So called Vampire treatments became popular a few years ago. Still, we get a lot of questions that go kind of like this: “What are these Vampire treatments all about, and what’s the difference between the two?” We’re going to discuss that here.
The Vampire Facial® and Vampire Facelift® are minimally-invasive treatments that work via the power of PRP, platelet-rich plasma. This substance is used by the body in various repair processes. Scientists discovered that the product could be obtained through a blood draw and used topically or subdermally for targeted improvements.
PRP treatments in general are beneficial because they can:
- Correct sun damage
- Stimulate new tissue growth
- Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve skin tone
- Reduce thin, sagging skin
- Improve dark under eye circles
- Correct volume loss
Vampire Facial vs. Vampire Facelift
These treatments are similar in that they use PRP, which contains numerous growth factors, to improve the cosmetic appearance of the skin. Each treatment begins with a blood draw much like is done for a routine physical. The blood is “spun” to separate platelets from red blood cells so, no, blood is not smeared on the face as some people believe.
During a Vampire Facial, the skin is cleansed and then treated with microneedling. This process creates tiny punctures that stimulate the platelets into a healing response when applied to the skin. Microneedling alone stimulates a repair process that brings new collagen to the surface. After microneedling, the provider applies the PRP across the skin, where it is quickly absorbed. A Vampire Facial is ideal for general skin rejuvenation.
The Vampire Facelift is an injectable treatment protocol that includes fillers like Juvéderm. Fillers create a new scaffold in the deeper structural tissues of the face, which creates an immediate improvement in volume and contouring. After filler injections, the provider injects PRP to further improve volume as well as long-term results. The combination of fillers and PRP quickly corrects volume loss while also stimulating tissue regeneration for smoother, firmer, more radiant skin.
Both the Vampire Facial and the Vampire Facelift offer unique benefits. We invite you to schedule a consultation at one of our Austin Med Spa locations to discover which treatment may be ideal for you.
