Juvederm Austin Injections
While we all think of wrinkles as the ultimate signs of aging, volume loss is probably actually more obvious. As we age, our bodies produce less and less collagen every year. This allows our cheeks to flatten and sink, our lips to thin and develop vertical lines, and the skin around the mouth to begin to develop creases and lines. Add the extensive sun damage we receive in sunny Austin and the natural slackening of tissue with the passing years, and you have a perfect recipe for facial aging.
To address these problems without surgery, Dr. Walden offers Juvéderm at The Med Spa.
Juvéderm is one of the original dermal fillers, first approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. in 2006. In the 15 plus years since, Juvéderm has been one of the world’s most popular dermal fillers, injected millions of times around the world. Its success has led to the creation of various extensions of the Juvéderm line to target specific areas of the face. To learn more about Juvéderm and whether you are a candidate for treatment, please call our Westlake office at 512-328-4100, or our Northwest Hills office at 512-640-8111.
How does Juvéderm work to erase lines and wrinkles?
Juvéderm is classified as a “natural” filler because it is made primarily of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body whose job is to hydrate and plump the skin, among other duties. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. It lubricates joints and is in connective tissue. When injected, the hyaluronic acid in all Juvéderm fillers binds with water molecules in the area to firm the skin, add volume, and fill wrinkles.
What areas of the face can Juvéderm be used on?
Juvéderm has proven to be very versatile in where it can be used. At The Med Spa, our two certified nurse practitioner injectors, Karen Izzo, FNP and Elizabeth Brooks, BSN, inject Juvéderm to address these signs of aging:
- Smile lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Parentheses lines that frame the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines that descend from the corners of the mouth
- Barcode lines above the upper lip
- Sunken cheeks that have lost volume
When injected beneath these problem areas, Juvéderm returns volume and erases or thoroughly softens the line, crease, or fills the area of volume loss.
Who is an ideal candidate for Juvéderm injections?
If you’re over 35 or 40, odds are you have some of the telltale signs of aging on the mid to lower face, especially around your mouth. All the lines listed above will show up at some point as your collagen production continues to decline and your skin thins. That makes just about anyone of that age and above a perfect candidate for Juvéderm at The Med Spa.
Of course, Juvéderm is simply a dermal filler, so its results are not permanent. But if you’re not interested in surgery with Dr. Walden to address facial aging, Juvéderm is the perfect alternative. Plus, Juvéderm is a “lunchtime procedure,” as injections take just a few minutes, and you can get right back to work or your other normal activities immediately after your session with our certified Juvéderm injectors at The Med Spa.
How many Juvéderm sessions do I need, and how much will I need?
Juvéderm provides instant results as soon as the filler is injected. These are meant to be single session treatments.
All injectables, fillers and neuromodulators (like Botox) are priced by the unit. It’s impossible to know how much Juvéderm you will need based on a few factors: the depth of the crease or wrinkle, your metabolism, and the thickness and elasticity of your skin in the area. Once we know the areas you seek to treat, we can give you a good idea of how many units of Juvéderm you’ll need, along with the cost.
How long before I see results with Juvéderm?
All Juvéderm fillers provide instant results. As soon as they’re injected beneath a wrinkle or area of volume loss, the hyaluronic acid instantly binds with nearby water molecules and plumps the skin. Dermal fillers are not like Botox, which takes up to four days to fully relax the injected muscle and take effect.
