ACNE SCARRING TREATMENTS

ACNE SCARRING

Forty million Americans deal with acne on a regular basis, and about half of those people have to deal with acne scarring afterwards. AS soneone who really enjoys a “good skin day”, I can tell you that the acne itself is bad enough. When the skin is clear, the last thing you want to see is a lingering scar.

The leftover scars from acne can cause major stress on your day to day life. Many people feel that their scars negatively affect their self-confidence, having lasting physical, emotional and psychological effects, even depression.

ACNE SCARRING TREATMENTS

We have many options for acne scarring patients with mild to deep acne scars. Step one is typically our latest medical grade microneedling device to gently puncture the skin in tiny micro-channels, which brings a collagen production response that continues for 60 days afterwards. This deep stimulation effect can not only help acne scarring, but also wrinkles, crepey skin and sun damage.

We would then assess your skin and see if our InMode Fractora laser, or Acupulse CO2 laser resurfacing would be appropriate.

CHEMICAL PEEL FOR ACNE SCARRING

acne scarring treatment austinAcne scars and hyperpigmentation can be the unfortunate leftovers of acne. Acne can damage the collagen layers of skin, resulting in a depressed or raised scar. Specialized chemical peels can be applied to remove scarred skin cells, which will allow healthy cells to grow and replace them. There are many different types of chemical peels. Our aestheticians are directly supervised by Dr. Jennifer Walden, and deal with acne treatments on a daily basis.

The peel that we see the best results with is a blended, phenol chemical peel called the VI Peel. This peel has been shown to improve the appearance of acne scarring, leftover hyperpigmentation, and texture.
